Activities that Preceded the Presidential Selection Process
Preparations for the presidential selection process began in October of 2007. At that time a Presidential Profile Committee was formed, made up of representatives from the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and alumni. Over the months that followed, the Profile Committee engaged the Wheaton College community in providing input through a variety of means, including campus-wide surveys, open discussion forums for faculty and staff, a retreat for trustee and faculty representatives, and individual meetings with administrators and alumni.
After assessing and discussing the input gathered, the Committee compiled a profile of desired qualifications for Wheaton’s president. The Committee presented this profile to the Board of Trustees in June 2008, and the Trustees then spent several months considering and praying over the matter. In October 2008, the Trustees approved the profile of desired qualifications.

The Presidential Selection Committee was then formed in February of 2009, more than a year after the preparation process was initiated.
